Two of the most dangerous highways in the United States run through the Miami Valley.

According to a report from The Zebra, Interstate 75 is the fourth most dangerous highway in the United States.
Interstate 70 sits eighth on the list with a total of 158 fatal accidents in 2019.
To determine the fatality rate, The Zebra first focused on highways with the most fatal accidents in 2019, analyzing the Fatality Analysis Reporting System data, the report said.

Next, they determined the amount of motor vehicle deaths per 100 miles for each highway across the U.S., according to the report.
In 2019, 237 fatalities occurred on I-75, as stated in the report. That is 13.27 fatalities per 100 miles.
Interstate 70 had 7.35 fatalities per 100 miles in 2019, according to the report.
The Zebra used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data from 2019 to find these results. Data for 2020 and 2021 is not yet been made available.

The report stated that 6 out of the 10 most dangerous highways run north-south.
The Zebra reminds drivers to be extra alert, plan your travel ahead of time, if you feel tired while driving it is best to rest in a safe place and to always obey traffic laws, the report stated.
