One man was killed in an early-morning crash in Auglaize County Monday.
The crash happened on State Route 29 near Holtkamp Road around 5:19am north of New Knoxville.
According to the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Andrew Klosterman, 35, of Celina was driving a blue 2020 Honda Civic in the northbound lanes of State Route 29 when he drove left of center for an unknown reason and struck a vehicle driven by Russ Wiedeman, 54, of Fort Jennings.
Wiedeman was driving a black 1998 Honda Civic when he was struck head-on, the state patrol said.
According to the press release, Klosterman’s vehicle came to rest on the road after sustaining severe damage. Wiedeman’s vehicle landed in a ditch with severe damage on the west side of State Route 29.
Troopers said Klosterman was taken to Joint Township District Hospital in St. Marys, for non-life-threatening injuries. Wiedeman was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the state patrol, it does not appear that impairment was a factor in the crash.
