Miami Valley, Ohio — Rivers in the Miami Valley continue to rise as the area is hit with excessive rain.

The video above shows both the Miami River and Stillwater River in Dayton, and in some shots, water can be seen starting to merge onto land.

In fact, on this week's Cloudy with a Chance of Podcast, NewsCenter 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs discussed how this record-breaking wet year has had a lasting impact on on the rivers across the Miami Valley.

“This has been the wettest 12-month period of all time for the area,” she says.

Her guest, hydrometeorologist Ryan Fliehman explains, “Our rivers have been elevated above what would be a climatological normal...we’ve been well above normal.”
