Greene County florist charged in unrelated case of bad checks faces a judge

GREENE COUNTY — A woman who owns a Greene County florist that’s under investigation for cancelling on brides with little to no notice without issuing refunds and facing an unrelated charge for passing bad checks made her first court appearance this week.

Desiree Pace, who owns Flowers by Des, has a warrant issued for her arrest in an unrelated 2019 case for passing bad checks, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. She pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office also has an open investigation into Flowers by Des after more than a dozen people complained to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office about the florist.

Several of the complaints offer similar stories about how Flowers by Des canceled right before their weddings or did not show up at all. Most of the complaints say they also did not get a refund.

Three people have filed complaints with the sheriff’s office.

“We’d like to track down the owner of the business and get her side of things,” Sgt. Beth Prall said.

News Center 7 has given Pace multiple opportunities for an interview. She has turned down each chance. In a text message to News Center 7′s Molly Koweek on Wednesday, Pace said in part, “Refunds have already been moving and we are allowed 90 days from request. Don’t text or call again.”
