WATCH: NY Times create video honoring Dr. Acton: “The Leader We Wish We All Had”

Ohio Health Dept. leader praised in national opinion piece

Ohio’s own Dr. Amy Acton was honored in a video created by New York Times writers Sanya Dosani and Adam Westbrook.

“The coronavirus has turned several public health officials and local leaders into bona fide celebrities, and perhaps no one is more compelling than the Ohio Health Department’s Dr. Amy Acton,” the opinion writers said.

They say they put together the above video, compiling clips from her and DeWine’s daily press conferences, in order to showcase how a relatively unknown doctor has quickly become a household name in the state.

She “now has her own Facebook fan club, T-shirts, chalk drawings and ’70s sitcom parodies!" the pair explain.

This isn’t the first time her and Gov. Mike DeWine have received national, or even international, attention. The two have also made headlines for the BBC, the Washington Post, USA Today, and more.
