UD fans were introduced to TBT last year when the Red Scare team, comprised of several former Flyers including many from the 2014 Elite Eight team, competed in the Columbus regional.
Red Scare made it to the regional championship game before falling to Carmen’s Crew, a team comprised of Ohio State alumni, who eventually won the 2019 TBT.
“Our fans enjoyed following and supporting our Red Scare alumni team in The Basketball Tournament last summer. The fact that they have a chance to come back home and play in UD Arena is very exciting to them, and to our fans,” men’s basketball head coach Anthony Grant said in the university’s release.
For the 2020 edition of Red Scare, three former Flyers have already committed, including Devin Oliver, Kyle Davis, and Darrell Davis.
Regional sites for the tournament will again include Columbus. Regional games will be played at Ohio State’s Covelli Center July 23-26.
Other regional sites include: Charleston, West Virginia, Las Vegas, Jackson, Tennessee, Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, Syracuse, New York, Washington D.C., and Polk State College in Winter Haven, Florida.
