CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns got solid offensive play Thursday night to beat their AFC North Division rival Pittsburgh Steelers, 29-17, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.
Nick Chubb rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown while Jacoby Brissett passed for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Amari Cooper caught seven passes for 101 yards and a score.
The Browns outgained the Steelers, 376-308.

Cleveland took the lead with 2:54 left in the first quarter when Brissett threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Cooper to take a 7-0 lead.
The Steelers responded with a one-handed catch by George Pickens to move them downfield and Najee Harris’ five-yard touchdown run to open the second quarter tied the game at 7-7.
The Browns answered with a 12 play, 79-yard drive capped by a five-yard touchdown reception by David Njoku but the extra point was missed and Cleveland led, 13-7.
Pittsburgh countered with a 10 play, 70-yard drive that took seven minutes off the clock that ended with a one-yard touchdown run by Mitch Trubisky and the Steelers led, 14-13, at halftime.
Cleveland took the lead in the third quarter on a 34-yard field goal by Cade York to reclaim the advantage, 16-14, after three.

The Browns went on another long drive, 80-yards in 11 plays in over six-and-half minutes, capped by a one-yard score by Chubb as they extended it to 23-14.
Chris Boswell’s 34-yard field with 1:48 remaining got the Steelers within six, 23-17. Pittsburgh had a chance to recover the onside kick but it went out of bounds and the Browns took over.
Cleveland ran the clock down to nine seconds and the Steelers had the ball at their own four-yard line. They tried to lateral the ball downfield but ended up fumbling and Denzel Ward recovered in the end zone as time expired.
The Browns improved to 2-1 overall.
Cleveland’s next game will be October 2 on the road against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
