Browns blow home fourth quarter lead to New York Jets

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns led the New York Jets, 30-17, with 1:55 left in the fourth quarter but ended up losing, 31-30, Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.

Nick Chubb ran 12-yards for a touchdown but Cade York missed the extra point and the Browns held a 30-17 advantage.

It took the Jets only 33 seconds to score as Joe Flacco hit Corey Davis for a 66-yard touchdown pass to cut it to 30-24 with 1:22 remaining.

New York recovered the onside kick at their 47-yard line with 1:18 left.

They drove to Cleveland’s 15-yard line and Flacco found Garrett Wilson in the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown to give the Jets their first lead of the game, 31-30, with 22 seconds left.

Jacoby Brissett was intercepted by Ashtyn Davis with six seconds left and New York ran out the clock.

Chubb ran for 87 yards and three touchdown for the Browns while Brissett passed for 227 yards and a touchdown. Amari Cooper caught nine passes for 101 yards and a score.

Flacco passed for 307 yards for the Jets and four touchdowns while Wilson had eight catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

The game was tied, 14-14, at halftime and Cleveland led, 17-14, after three quarters.

Both teams are now 1-1 on the season.

Cleveland is back in action when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.
