Bengals get big road win over Steelers at Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — The Cincinnati Bengals went on the road and beat their arch-division rival Pittsburgh Steelers, 37-30, Sunday afternoon at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The teams split the season series against one another.

The Bengals improve to 6-4 and get their first win against an AFC North division opponent this season.

The Steelers won the first game in Week 1 at Paycor Stadium, 23-20 in overtime.

Bengal quarterback Joe Burrow passed for 355 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Samaje Perine caught three scores and wide receiver Tee Higgins had nine catches for 148 yards. Evan McPherson made three field goals, including a 54-yarder.

The teams exchanged field goals to start the game to tie at 3-3. Perine caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Burrow to put Cincinnati ahead, 10-3 after one quarter.

Najee Harris’ 19-yard touchdown run tied the game at 10-10 with 12:58 left in the second quarter. Burrow threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Perine to cap an 10 play, 92 yard drive to reclaim the lead, 17-10.

The Steelers responded with 24-yard touchdown catch by George Pickens to tie the score at 17-17 with 1:47 left until halftime. Burrow was intercepted by Levi Wallace with 31 seconds remaining in the half and Matthew Wright’s 30-yard field goal put Pittsburgh up, 20-17, at halftime.

Cincinnati took the lead for good in the third quarter when Burrow found Trenton Irwin for a one-yard touchdown to go up, 24-20. Wright and McPherson each made a field goal and the Bengals led, 27-23, after three quarters.

Perine scored his third touchdown of the game with 4:30 remaining to increase it to 34-23. McPherson added a 44-yard field goal to extend it to 37-23. Harris added a one-yard touchdown run with 44 seconds left for Pittsburgh but Tyler Boyd recovered the onside kick to seal the game. Pittsburgh wideout George Pickens got tossed with 45 seconds left after the recovery. Cincinnati ran out the clock.

The Bengals played much of the game without running back Joe Mixon. The team said on Twitter that he was ruled out due to a concussion.

Cincinnati will be on the road November 27 in Nashville, Tennessee to play the Tennessee Titans. It will be a rematch of the AFC Divisional Playoff game between the two teams in January when the Bengals upset the Titans, 19-16.
