Bengals lose to Ravens on a last second field goal

BALTIMORE, MD — The Cincinnati Bengals had a chance to take sole possession of first place in the AFC North Sunday night but lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 19-17, at M&T Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.

Justin Tucker made a 43-yard field goal as time expired.

The Bengals took the lead, 17-16, after not leading the entire night.

Joe Burrow’s one-yard touchdown run with 1:58 remaining capped a 13 play, 75-yard drive that took nearly eight minutes off the clock.

But Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson drove them to the Bengals 25-yard line with three seconds left for Tucker’s winning kick.

Baltimore jumped out to a 10-0 lead on a 37-yard field goal by Tucker and an 11-yard touchdown catch by Mark Andrews.

Cincinnati came back with a 19-yard touchdown pass from Burrow to Hayden Hurst and Evan McPherson’s 40-yard field goal right before halftime tied the score at 10-10.

The Ravens turned the ball over on downs to start the second half but Burrow was intercepted by Patrick Queen which set up a 58-yard field goal by Tucker as the Ravens reclaimed the advantage, 13-10.

The Bengals drove to the Baltimore two-yard line but could not convert on fourth and goal, turning the ball over on downs and trailed 13-10 after three quarters.

The Ravens got a 25-yard field goal by Tucker to go up, 16-10, with 9:42 remaining in the game.

Cincinnati drove 75 yards, capped by a one-yard touchdown run Burrow to take their first lead of the night, 17-16, with 1:58 to go.

But that was enough time for Baltimore as they drove down the field to set up Tucker’s winning field goal.

Cincinnati falls 2-3 overall while the Ravens improve to 3-2.

The Bengals are on the road October 16 at the New Orleans Saints.
