CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals made a long-rumored addition to Paul Brown Stadium official Thursday and will unveil a Ring of Honor in the fall to immortalize franchise greats.
Paul Brown and Anthony Muñoz, both Pro Football Hall of Famers, were announced as the first two members selected for the team’s new honor. Two more members will be selected by season ticket holders during a voting period from May to June, the team announced.
Players up for vote were not released but will be announced later.
Brown, the team’s founder and first coach, was the first member honored. Brown founded the Bengals in 1968 after a successful run as founder and coach of the Cleveland Browns. Brown retired as coach of the Bengals in 1975 and became the team’s general manager and helped build the teams that made two Super Bowls in 1980s.
Muñoz, is considered one of the all-time NFL greats as an offensive lineman and was selected to the HOF in 1998, his first year of eligibility. He was part of the two Bengals teams that made the Super Bowls in the 1980s.
While the Bengals didn’t announce the list of future inductees and those who could be voted on, several other team greats were featured in the social media video:
- Offensive lineman Willie Anderson
- Wide Receiver Chad Johnson
- Quarterback Boomer Esiason
- Quarterback Ken Anderson
- Cornerback Ken Riley
