CINCINNATI — A former Dayton Dragon accomplished something for the Cincinnati Reds Friday night that had not been done in 34 years.
>>Tonight’s Reds-Braves game sold out in Cincinnati
Elly De La Cruz became the first Cincinnati Reds player to hit for the cycle since Eric Davis last did it in 1989.
The former Dragon accomplished it in front of a sellout crowd against the Atlanta Braves at Great American Ball Park Friday night.
De La Cruz doubled in his first plate appearance in the second and followed it up with a two-run homer in the third. He singled in another run in the fifth and then tripled in the sixth.
He has also driven in three runs.
The Reds trailed 5-0 in the second inning but came back to take the lead.
They hold an 11-10 advantage over Atlanta in the eighth inning.
We will have an update on this game when it finishes.
