It’s the Reds longest winning since 2012 when they also won 10 straight and the last time they won the NL Central.

Cincinnati hit three home runs, including a three-run home run by T.J. Friedl in the second. Elly De La Cruz added a solo home run in the third while Will Benson went deep in the sixth.

Friedl had four hits while De La Cruz, the club’s top prospect, added three and scored twice.

The Reds led 8-2 in the eighth inning but Jorge Alfaro’s three-run homer cut the advantage to 8-5.

The Rockies scored with one out in the ninth on an RBI double by Nolan Jones off Cincinnati closer Alexis Diaz to get Colorado within two, 8-6.

Diaz walked Ryan McMahon but struck out Elias Diaz. Former Red Mike Moustakas drew a walk to load the bases with two outs. Diaz struck out Alfaro to end the game for his 20th save of the season.

Cincinnati remains a half-game ahead of Milwaukee in the NL Central.

They host Colorado Wednesday afternoon at 12:35 p.m.
