Dayton picked to finish 4th in PFL; Jake Chisholm named FCS preseason All-American

DAYTON — The Dayton Flyers were picked to finish fourth in the Pioneer Football League in the 2022 season in a preseason vote of the league’s coaches, according to a media release.

Davidson was picked to finish first while San Diego, St. Thomas, and UD were picked to finished behind the Wildcats.

Davidson and San Diego were the PFL’s co-champions last year but the Wildcats earned the league’s automatic berth in the FCS playoffs courtesy of their regular season win over the Toreros.

Dayton Flyer redshirt senior running back Jake Chisholm has been named to the 2022 STATS Preseason All-America team as a second team all-purpose runner, according to a media release.

He was a Second Team Perform FCS All-American last year as an all-purpose runner after finishing second in FCS football in all-purpose yardage (163.9 yards per game) and led FCS rushing attempts per game (23.5) and touchdowns per game (1.8).

Chisholm led the PFL in rushing (103.3 yards per game), scoring and all-purpose yardage.

This year marks Chisholm’s second season as a team captain and is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. He was also a 2021 PFL Scholar-Athlete.

Dayton went 6-4 in 2021, including 5-3 in the Pioneer Football League.

They open the season 2022 season at Robert Morris on September 3.
