Former Dayton point guard Scoochie Smith will play for Red Scare in TBT

DAYTON — The Basketball Tournament (TBT) held its, “Signing Day,” on Tuesday and the University of Dayton alumni team, Red Scare, announced it has added former Flyer point guard Scoochie Smith to its roster.

He joins a roster of former Dayton Flyer players including Darrell Davis, Trey Landers, Ryan Mikesell and Vee Sanford. For all these former Flyers, it will be their first chance to play in front of the Flyer fans since finishing their UD basketball careers.

Scoochie is the brother of current Flyer point guard Malachi Smith. The Smith brothers are the only set of brothers to be named team MVPs for Dayton. Scoochie was named co-MVP his senior season (2016-17) and Malachi was co-MVP as freshman this past season.

The University of Dayton Arena will be one of the host sites during the second weekend of this year’s TBT, July 24-27, and Championship Week, July 29-August 2. UD will host the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship.
