Super Bowl LVI will be The Bengal’s third appearance in the NFL’s title game and the first since 1989. The Bengals previously played in Super Bowls XVI in 1982 and XXIII in 1989, both times against the San Francisco 49ers. Cincinnati is still searching for their first Super Bowl victory in playoff history, losing to the 49ers in both previous Super Bowl appearances.

For Los Angeles this is the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl appearance and third with the franchise being based in Los Angeles. As a California-based team the Rams lost both their previous Super Bowl appearances: Super Bowl XIV against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1980 and Super Bowl LIII in 2019 against the New England Patriots.
