DAYTON — For the second time in as many weeks, Dayton’s Obi Toppin was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Player of the Week on Monday.

The award is the fifth time the conference awarded Toppin with the honor this year. For the Flyers on the year, this is the eighth player of the week awarded to a Dayton player. In addition to Toppin’s five awards, Jalen Crutcher was honored twice and Ibi Watson once.

Last week, Toppin averaged 23.5 points while shooting 65 percent from the field during UD’s two victories that sealed a perfect 18-0 record in conference play. He dropped 20 points at Rhode Island Wednesday and 27 points in the regular season finale against George Washington Saturday.

The Flyers return to action Friday at noon in the Atlantic 10 tournament in Brooklyn, New York. The No. 1 seeded Flyers will play the winner of Thursday’s game between No. 8 seeded UMass and No. 9 VCU.
