Ohio State football: 2020 ticket prices scheduled to be set this week, including increase for Michigan game

Ohio State season football ticket holders could get another reason to celebrate this week.

While the Buckeyes prepare for a potentially season-defining game against Penn State on Saturday, the university board of trustees is set to vote on approving a ticket pricing structure for next season.

The athletic council has recommended maintaining the same price next season members of the general public paid for a season ticket in 2019: $702.

The plan is to continue using the variable pricing model it began in 2013 with the cheapest ticket (Buffalo) going for $63 while the most expensive (Michigan) is $220.

Fans who purchase season tickets save approximately 15% compared to buying every game individually while faculty and staff enjoy a savings of roughly 20%.

Student tickets, which used to go for 50% off the regular public price, will remain $34 per game or $238 for the season, a per-game average that has held steady since 2013.

The last time Michigan was on the schedule (2018), that ticket cost $197 and season tickets were $639.

This season the most expensive ticket is for this week’s opponent, Penn State. The face value of a seat for what will turn out to be a top 10 matchup is $198.

As is the case this season, three games will be significantly more expensive than the others next season, though the pricing structure for those higher-end games will be slightly different.

In 2019, the Penn State game was $198 while Wisconsin went for $190 and Michigan State $147.

Next season, the proposed prices are $220 for Michigan with games against Nebraska and Iowa each going for $150.

After attendance dipped last season to 101,947 per game (the lowest since the stadium expansion project was completed prior to the 2001 season), Ohio State attendance is up this season to 103,221.

The board is set to hold a public session from 1-2:30 Thursday afternoon after the audit, compliance and finance committee meets that morning to vote on the proposed prices.
