Trey Calvin leads the way for Wright State in home win over Green Bay

DAYTON — The Wright State Raiders gained a split in their two-week homestand beating Green Bay, 77-46, Saturday night at the Nutter Center. The Raiders went 2-2 in four home games, beating Green Bay and Milwaukee while losing to both Purdue Fort Wayne and Cleveland State.

Trey Calvin led W.S.U. with 18 points while AJ Braun added 13. Andrew Welage scored 12 points as Wright State made 30 of 54 shots for the game, including shooting 60% in the second half.

The Raiders improve to 13-10 overall, including 6-6 in the Horizon League.

After falling behind 2-0 to start the game, Calvin scored five straight points as part of a 13-0 run as WSU led, 13-2. Randy Tucker’s three-pointer for the Phoenix cut Wright State’s advantage to 17-9 with 12:50 left in the first half.

Green Bay never got closer as the Raiders got three-pointers each by Alex Huibregtse and Calvin to increase it to 29-13.

Amari Davis ended the first half with a steal and dunk to put the Raiders, 41-16, at halftime. WSU built the lead to as much as 39 points in the second half, 67-28.

Wright State is back in action Thursday night when they play at Youngstown State. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
