DAYTON — The University of Dayton Women’s Basketball team announced Tuesday that they have signed Nayo Lear to its basketball program.

She will be a true freshman next season.

Lear is a 5-10 guard out of South Holland, Illinois where she attended Thornwood High School and played for the Example Sports Academy. She received 17 Division I offers before deciding on the Dayton Flyers. Head Coach Tamika Williams Jeter said Lear is a guard that can give Dayton great pace, has a very high basketball IQ and is a great passer.

“She can get into her mid-range and finish at the rim,” she said. “She gives great length at 5-10 at the combo guard spot and we are really excited to have someone like Nayo...”

Lear joins Anyssa Jones, a transfer from Ohio State, as the first student-athletes to join Williams Jeter.
