DAYTON — The University of Dayton is searching for a new head coach of the women’s basketball program after Shauna Green resigned to take the same position at Illinois.
Green resigned Monday following six seasons in Dayton. She totaled a career record of 127 wins and 50 losses, five Atlantic 10 regular season championships, two conference tournament crowns, and four NCAA tournament berths. Green was named A-10 Coach of the Year three times including this season.

“On behalf of the University of Dayton, I offer our gratitude and sincere thanks to Shauna for a great six-year run,” UD Athletic Director Neil Sullivan said in a media release.
“Most importantly, Shauna represented the University with integrity and class. She graduated student-athletes, won championships and embraced the community. With our thanks for her service and best wishes for her continued success, we commence our search for a new coach who will continue our strong tradition of women’s basketball.”
Green took over the position at UD just before the start of the 2016 season after longtime coach Jim Jabir resigned. Green served as an assistant on Jabir’s staff before leaving for an assistant position at Northwestern and later returned to Dayton to coach the Flyers.
Green replaces Nancy Fahey at Illinois who retired after 36 years of coaching including the last five years in Champaign.
