DAYTON — The University of Dayton women’s basketball team announced the signing of Anyssa Jones, the first student athlete to be signed by new head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter.

Jones is a native of Westerville where she played for Westerville South High School as a guard and was recruited as a three-star recruit, ranked the number 29 guard in the nation by ESPN out of high school. As a senior at Westerville, she led her team to a 21-5 record and became the number 16 ranked women’s high school basketball team in Ohio.

Jones made 15 appearances for the Buckeyes during two seasons and was an OSU Scholar-Athlete in 2021. She was recruited by Williams-Jeter when she was an assistant on the Ohio State staff.

Williams-Jeter coached at Wittenberg last season and replaced Shauna Green after she resigned to take the head coaching job at Illinois.

UD went 26-6 this past season, beating DePaul in the First Four of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament on March 16th before losing to Georgia in the First Round on March 18th.
