DAVIDSON, NC — The Dayton Flyers got a big game from DaRon Holmes II as they beat the Davidson Wildcats, 69-55, Saturday afternoon at Belk Arena in Davidson, North Carolina.

Holmes set a new career-high in scoring with 32 points, 20 in the first half, and grabbed 10 rebounds. He made 11-14 shots, including a first half three-pointer.
UD got 10 points from Toumani Camara and collected eight rebounds. Koby Brea had nine off the bench and Mustapha Amzil had seven points and 10 rebounds.
The Flyers improved to 10-5 overall, 2-0 in the Atlantic 10.

Dayton led, 44-33, at halftime but went over 11 minutes without a field goal to start the second half. The Wildcats tied the game at 47-47 after a layup by Desmond Watson with 11:12 to go.
Camara and Holmes each made two free throws as UD reclaimed the lead, 51-47. Holmes’ layup was the Flyers’ first field goal of the second half and increased the lead to 53-47. Camara’s three-point play extended it to 56-49 with 7:39 remaining.
Holmes added a dunk and field goal to stretch Dayton’s advantage back to double figures, 60-50. UD sealed the game making 9 of 12 free throws, including five by R.J. Blakney.
The Flyers shot 45% from the field (21-47), including 6-13 from three-point range. Dayton made 21-30 free throws and had 10 assists, only seven turnovers. They also outrebounded Davidson, 43-24.
UD’s next game will be Wednesday, January 4, when they host Saint Joseph’s at the UD Arena at 7 p.m.
