POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — After being shut out in a football game for the first time since 1976, the Dayton Flyers bounced back with a 24-7 win over Marist Red Foxes in Poughkeepsie, New York Saturday afternoon.

Jake Chisholm ran for 90 yards and a touchdown as UD rushed for 167 yards. Shane Hamm started in his first game at quarterback as a Flyer and passed for 105 yards, a touchdown and had no turnovers.
Dayton only got 239 yards of total offense but their defense held Marist to 212 yards, 67 coming on the final drive that resulted in a touchdown with 18 seconds left.
Luke Brenner put UD on the scoreboard first in the second when he caught a 39-yard touchdown pass that put the Flyers up, 7-0, at halftime.
Sam Webster added a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter to increase it to 10-0.
The Flyers added a pair of late fourth quarter touchdowns to put the game out of reach.
Chisholm’s two-yard score extended the advantage to 17-0 with 3:27 to play.
After stopping Marist on downs, Dayton started at the Red Foxes 17-yard line and Michael Neel’s 10-yard touchdown run expanded it to 24-0.
Tristan Shannon added a one-yard touchdown run for Marist to prevent the shutout.
UD improves to 4-2 overall, 2-1 in the Pioneer Football League.
The Flyers return home Saturday afternoon, October 22, and will host Stetson at Welcome Stadium. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
