PARADISE ISLAND, The Bahamas — The Dayton Flyers came up short against the Wisconsin Badgers Wednesday afternoon, 43-42, in the opening round of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.
UD falls to 3-2 on the season.

Kobe Elvis’ jumper in the lane was blocked by Max Klesmit with three seconds left. The ball went out of bounds off the Badgers and UD had it with less than a second on the shot clock.
The Flyers could not get a shot off before it expired. Wisconsin took over with just over a second remaining on the game clock. They inbounded the ball and ran out the clock.
Dayton trailed, 23-14, at halftime. They led 9-7 with 12:50 left in the first half but were outscored, 16-5, the rest of the half.
Elvis scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half and helped ignite a UD comeback. Mustapha Amzil’s three-pointer tied the game at 39-39 with 4:56 to play.
Tyler Wahl’s three-point play gave Wisconsin a 42-39 lead with 4:38 to play. Toumani Camara’s putback got UD to within two, 43-41. Holmes made one of two free throws to cut it to one, 43-42, with 59 seconds left.
Camara blocked Steven Crowl’s shot at the other end and the Flyers took over with 28 seconds to play.
Dayton took a timeout with 24 seconds left but could not get a shot off against Wisconsin’s defense and called their last timeout with eight seconds remaining. Elvis’ jumper was blocked and the ball went out of bounds. UD could not get a shot off before the shot clock expired.
The Badgers advance to the winners side of the Battle 4 Atlantis bracket and will play Kansas on Thanksgiving at 11 a.m.
The Flyers will play NC State on the consolation side of the Battle 4 Atlantis bracket Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
