LAS VEGAS, NV — The offense for No. 21 ranked Dayton Flyers sputtered in the second half as they loss to the UNLV Rebels, 58-48, late Tuesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Flyers had a 32-22 halftime lead.
UD led 37-25 with 17:24 left in the game but the Rebels went on a 12-1 run to tie the game at 38-38. The Flyers got a three-pointer each by Kobe Elvis and Mike Sharavjamts to go up, 44-42, with 10:29 remaining. UNLV tied it at 44-44 with 8:19 left.
The Rebels got back-to-back treys, one each by Keshon Gilbert and Elijah Harless to put them up for good, 50-44. Koby Brea’s three cut it to 50-47 with 6:46 left. The Flyers never got closer.
UNLV got baskets by Victor Iwuakor and Harkless to increase it to 54-47 with 4:20 to go. The Rebels stretched the lead to as much as 12 points, 60-48, with 55 seconds to play.
Elvis led Dayton with 16 points and Sharavjamts had 14. R.J. Blakney added seven points and Koby Brea scored six points in his first game of the season.
DaRon Holmes was held to two points in 33 minutes. Toumani Camara had four points and six rebounds but did not play in the second half due to injury. Holmes was also banged up in the second half but returned.
Harless led all scorers for UNLV with 24 points and Gilbert had 16 points. The Rebels shot 48% (13-27) in the second half and scored 27 points off Flyer turnovers.
UD shot 25% from the floor in the second half (5-20) and had 12 of their 24 turnovers in the second half.
Dayton falls to 2-1 on the season.
The Flyers will look to bounce back Saturday afternoon when they host Robert Morris at the UD Arena at 1 p.m.
