DAYTON — The No. 21 ranked Dayton Flyers held the Robert Morris Colonials 35% shooting from the field in a 60-51 victory Saturday afternoon at the UD Arena.

DaRon Holmes II led all scorers with 18 points while Mustapha Amzil added 12 off the bench. Toumani Camara had a double-double: 11 points and 14 rebounds.
UD improves to 3-1 on the season.
Sophomore point guard Malachi Smith made his season debut for the Flyers after missing the first three games with an ankle injury. He had five points, three assists and three steals.
Dayton played this game without Koby Brea, who missed the game due to illness.
UD jumped ahead to a 7-2 lead as Holmes scored four points and Kobe Elvis had three. The Flyer defense help the Colonials without a point from the 14:52 mark until 8:49 left in the first half.
They went on a 15-2 run, capped by fast break dunk and three-pointer by Holmes to push their lead to 24-9, the largest of the game, with 7:32 left in the half.
The Colonials cut it to 24-18 with a 9-0 run of its town but Amzil’s trey helped make the halftime score, 30-21, in the Flyers’ favor.

Mike Sharavjamts buried a three to increase the advantage to 39-29 with 14:32 remaining in the game but Robert Morris would not go away as Josh Corbin’s trey got them within six, 41-35.
Toumani Camara added a posterizing dunk and slam by Holmes increased to 45-35. Camara’s trey and Amzil’s jumper put UD ahead, 50-38, with 7:12 left.
The Colonials never got any closer as Camara dunk’s sealed the win 11 seconds left.
Holmes scored his 500th career as a Dayton Flyer in 42 career games.
Dayton will travel to the Bahamas to play in the three-day Bad Boy Mowers Battle4Atlantis Tournament November 23-25.
Their first game will be Wednesday afternoon against Wisconsin.
