DAYTON — The number 24 ranked Dayton Flyers opened the 2022-2023 season beating Lindenwood, 73-46, Monday night at the UD Arena. Five players scored in double figures for UD. The Flyers are now 1-0 to start the season.

Dayton jumped out to an 8-0 lead to begin the game and never looked back.
UD played this game without guards Malachi Smith and Koby Brea who missed the game with injuries. Forward Richard Amaefule did not play due to injury.
Mustapha Amzil led the Flyers 14 points and five rebounds. Mike Sharavjamts had 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists in his collegiate debut.
DaRon Holmes and R.J. Blakney each added 13 while Kobe Elvis also had 10 points. Toumani Camara grabbed 11 rebounds.
UD put the game away in the second half with a big run.
Their advantage was cut to 47-31 after a three by Kevin Caldwell, Jr. Blakney’s layup and four straight points by Zimi Nwokeji extended it to 53-31.
Blakney added a pair of free throws and a three-pointer by Sharavjamts extend the Flyer lead to 58-33. He dished it to Holmes for the dunk to increase it to 60-33.
Blakney made two free throws and his dunk off a steal expanded the advantage to 64-33 and never looked back as part of Dayton’s 17-2 run.
The Flyers’ next game will be Friday night, November 11, when they host SMU at the UD Arena.
