DAYTON — University of Dayton men’s basketball coach Anthony Grant announced a former Miami University basketball will join the UD coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Jermaine Henderson joins Dayton with more than 25 years of experience, the university announced Monday.
“Jermaine brings a wealth of experience to our staff from the variety of roles he’s served in throughout his coaching career,” Grant said. “His reputation as a highly-effective relationship builder, communicator, and servant leader will blend extremely well into the culture and identity of our program. We’re excited to welcome Jermaine, his wife Colleen, and their daughter Jaye to the Dayton campus and community.”
Henderson graduated from Miami in 1997, played for both Herb Sendek and Charlie Coles, joined Coles’ staff at Miami for 15 seasons. Henderson was on four post-season teams for the then-Redskins, including in 1995 when Miami upset Arizona at the UD Arena in the First Round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship but lost to Virginia in overtime.

“I would like to thank Coach Grant and Mr. (Neil) Sullivan for this wonderful opportunity to become a part of the Dayton men’s basketball staff and community,” Henderson stated. “I have so much respect and admiration for the tradition and the current culture of the Flyer program. I am excited to join the staff and team in the pursuit of A-10 titles and returning to the NCAA tournament.”
He also has served as an assistant coach at Missouri State, Cleveland and Kansas State. Henderson returned to Cleveland State as an assistant last season where they went 21-14.
Dayton went 22-12 last season.
