Wright State No. 7 seed in upcoming Horizon League Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — The Wright State Raiders concluded the regular season beating Detroit Mercy, 82-71, on Saturday and will be the No. 7 seed in the upcoming 2023 Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship.

The Raiders will host No. 10 Green Bay Tuesday night at the Nutter Center in the first round and the winner advances to the quarterfinal round Thursday night.

The rest of Tuesday’s night Horizon League first-round action includes No. 6 Robert Morris hosting No. 11 IUPUI and No. 8 Detroit-Mercy playing No. 9 Purdue Fort Wayne.

WSU swept Green Bay in both regular match-ups. They won, 99-67, on January 12 in Green Bay and 77-46 on January 28 at the Nutter Center.

Youngstown State is No. 1 overall seed while Milwaukee finished the regular season No. 2 in the Horizon League.

Cleveland State, Northern Kentucky and Oakland also have first round byes.

The top five seeds get a first round bye and will play in the quarterfinals Thursday night.

The winner of each quarterfinal advances to Indianapolis for the semifinals on March 6 and the championship is on March 7.
