Wright State suffers buzzer-beater loss at Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, IN — The Wright State Raiders lost its second straight game this weekend, 77-75, Sunday afternoon at Purdue Fort Wayne on a buzzer beater shot.

Trey Calvin’s jumper put the Raiders ahead, 75-74, less than three seconds remaining. But Damian Chong Qui buried a three-pointer from just beyond half-court as time expired to win the game for the Mastodons.

Alex Huibregtse led WSU with 24 points while Calvin added 22. Brandon Noel had a double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Jarred Godfrey scored 25 points to lead Purdue Fort Wayne while Chong Qui added 16. Quinton Morton-Robertson scored 10 points.

Wright State shot just under 51% from the field (29-57), including making 63% of their shots in the second half.

The Mastodons scored 15 points off 18 Raider turnovers.

Wright State falls to 16-13 overall, 9-9 in the Horizon League with two regular season games to play.

The Raiders next game will be Thursday night at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
