DARKE COUNTY — A crash at a Darke County intersection sent two vehicles into a Darke County house and injured at least three people, according to a release from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Hogpath Road, south of Greenville, just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

First units on the scene reported the house sustained “significant structural damage” in the crash. Images from the scene show both vehicles crashed into the home’s porch and the SUV hitting a support post and wall of the home.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a pickup, driven by Philip Baum, 82, of New Paris, had stopped at the stop sign on Hogpath Road, on the west side of the intersection of US Route 127, according to the sheriff’s office.

Baum traveled across US Route 127, failing to yield the right of way to a north bound SUV on US Route 127, driven by Michael O’Mara, 67, of Hartford City, Indiana.

Baum then struck O’Mara’s vehicle on the driver’s side, the sheriff’s office said.

After the vehicles collided, they both left the road on the Northeast corner of the intersection, and struck a home. The sheriff’s office says nobody was inside of the home at the time of the crash.

The sheriff’s office says Baum, his passenger, and O’Mara were transported to Wayne Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
