Spring temperatures will quickly swing back to winter-like temps tonight as a strong cold front pushes through the area.

“This nearly 40-degree drop in 24 hours will bring a shock to the system as we just entered spring,” Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Dontae Jones said.

“This front is part of the same system that brought us near 70 degree temperatures on Thursday along with heavy rainfall, causing flooding and severe thunderstorms.”

Temperatures today were in the upper 60s this morning and into the afternoon. However as the cold front moved through, temperatures will drop and gusty winds from the north will bring more cold air in.

Temperatures will be in the 40s by late afternoon and into the evening.
Overnight, winds relax to just breezy but temperatures will become cold, in the upper 20s. Wind chills will be in the teens Saturday morning.
