Rare planet alignment this week

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

A great lineup of planets will be visible this week! June 21-25, if you head outside before sunrise, you can try your best to see not one; but FIVE planets lined up in the sky. A planet parade like this one, where the planets are in the same order as they appear in our solar system, hasn’t happened since March 5, 1864!

Get a clear view of the horizon and look southeast. You’ll see Mercury very close to the horizon, then Venus, the brightest, Mars, Jupiter, and the highest in the sky will be Saturn! There will also be a crescent moon visible.

The best time will be about 30 or 40 minutes before sunrise; around 5:30 a.m. will be your best timeframe!

Don’t forget to share your photos with us.
