The ‘Snow Bowl’: The year OSU played Michigan during a blizzard

66 years ago, The Ohio State Buckeyes played Michigan Wolverines in the midst of a snow storm which would later become known to some as the “snow bowl”.

On November 25, 1950 blizzard conditions persisted through the entirety of the game.

Temperatures were in the teens, sustained winds near 20 mph bringing the wind chill below zero.

Gusty winds combined with heavy snowfall knocked visibility down to near a quarter of a mile at times.

Records show that 7.5 inches of snow feel in Columbus on that date while nearly a foot fell in parts of the Miami Valley. Michigan pulled out a win, beating the Buckeyes 9 - 3.

Conditions in the Dayton area were equally as treacherous.

Much different conditions in Columbus today. Cool but dry from start to finish with a few peaks of sunshine by the end of the game.
