MIAMI VALLEY — The same strong area of low pressure that created severe storms, including destructive tornadoes in the Gulf coast states on Thursday, moved north of the Miami Valley overnight created some very gusty winds.
The gusts prompted a High Wind Warning from the National Weather Service.

At the peak, around 5 a.m., there were upwards of 31,000 residents across the Miami Valley without power, according to WHIO’s Outage Map that gathers information from AES Ohio, Duke Energy and Ohio Edison. Here is a sample list of some of the peak wind gusts that were reported across the area.

Dayton: 60 MPH
Xenia: 60 MPH
WPAFB: 59 MPH
Wilmington: 56 MPH
Union City: 54 MPH
Wapakoneta: 53 MPH
Springfield: 53 MPH
Oxford: 52 MPH
Richmond, Ind.: 51 MPH
Lebanon: 51 MPH
New Vienna: 48 MPH
Hamilton: 46 MPH
Urbana: 45 MPH
